Location of the MSPR Wetlands Bank
The Middle South Platte River Wetland Mitigation Bank is located in Southwest Weld County, Colorado, at State Highway 52 and Weld County Road 5. The bank is approximately two miles South of Boulder Creek. Water used by the bank to sustain the wetland originates in Boulder Creek and is diverted into a major irrigation canal about six miles to the West of the Bank. Water that exits the bank flows in a drain channel back to Boulder Creek. Thus, the bank provides an important and direct benefit to the Creek by removing from the water returned to Boulder Creek excess nutrients, particularly nitrogen and phosphorous compounds, introduced principally from the City of Boulders wastewater treatment plant. |
